Welcome to the “dog days of summer” – the hottest days of the year! And this year, they aren’t disappointing, with daily temperatures in the ‘30’s. It’s a great time to be lake side.
Thank you to all of you who joined us for our first-ever virtual AGM on July 4. We had over 30 voting members represented, which compares favourably to attendance at our in-person meetings in previous years. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’ll consider incorporating this format in the future. If you weren’t able to join us “live” or wish to replay a part of the meeting, just watch the video above.
There was some discussion during the meeting about the impacts of short-term rental properties. If you have concerns about the use of such a property, I would encourage you to speak to the owners. They may be unaware of the activities that are concerning for you. Both the Township of Muskoka Lakes and Georgian Bay also offer opportunities to register concerns on their websites. Follow the link to “Report a Concern” where you can complete a form which will be reviewed by township staff. I understand staff will respond with information about follow-up. Our elected representative – Cynthia Douglas and Paul Wiancko for the Township of Georgian Bay, and Barbara Bridgeman for the Township of Muskoka Lakes, should also be notified of your concerns so they can represent these at the Council tables.
And finally, if you haven’t already, please renew your membership!
