SLA BBQ… Best Yet?

One of the attendees from this years BBQ was quoted as saying:
“What a fantastic evening!!! We had such a blast. It’s a highlight of the summer season… Thank-you to Laurie and Victor and to ALL for the amazing effort that goes into the prep of such an awesome event.”
Everyone that attended would likely agree that this is an accurate summary of the event!

A big thanks to our amazing hosts, Laurie Harada and Victor D’Souza.  Once again they allowed us to use their cottage and property, providing a setting and ambiance that are truly unique to Stewart Lake.  The organizing committee members did an outstanding job making sure everything ran smoothly in addition to providing the sweat equity to pull it off!   Another big thanks to the organizing committee:  Laurie Harada, Victor D’Souza, Margarete Cameron, Ron Cameron, Peggy Baumgartner, Richard Baumgartner, Tim Sjohom, MaryLou Sjoholm, Clare Tomkins, Pat Durante, Murray Durante, Dawn MacDonald, Kathy Hobin and Ken Hobin.

This was definitely the best Buckeye BBQ yet and a number of records were set:
– 155 attendees representing 40 association members and their families and friends
– total revenues from the silent auction, the poker chip toss and donations exceeded $3500

Live Musical Performances

Special Thanks…

… to those who contributed items for the silent auction, prizes for the Poker Chip Toss and for the door prizes
…to host Laurie Harada for the homemade burgers and ensuring that all dietary preferences were accommodated
…to all the attendees who brought potluck items, everything was absolutely delicious!
…to the musical talents who provided the entertainment: Ken Hobin and the Stewart Lake Band and Matt McGrath & his accompanist Mike. A toe-tapping, hip-swinging, sing-a-long good time!

Congratulations to the winners of the SLA member door prizes. Brian Kirkwood and Doug Ransom were the lucky winners of Muskoka Chairs!
